Kelsey Hendler, Director
Kelsey Hendler graduated from the Schreyer Honors College of the Pennsylvania State University in May of 2015, where she studied choral music education. She studied voice privately and was a member of multiple choral ensembles. While studying at Penn State, Kelsey directed the Discantus women's ensemble, co-directed the None of the Above A cappella group, and interned with the Nittany Valley Children's Choir. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University, and is projected to graduate in the Summer of 2021.
Kelsey is in her fifth year of teaching, and is thrilled to join the Haverford music staff. Her first four years were spent at Pottsgrove High School, where she directed five to seven choral ensembles and taught Guitar, Life Skills Music, Music Theory 1 and AP Music Theory. At Haverford High School, Kelsey directs both the Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers, and teaches sixth and seventh grade general music. She also prepares students for PMEA festivals and advises the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
When she is not teaching, Kelsey sings in two choirs: the Essence of Joy Alumni Singers, and the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educator's Association (PMEA) the Music Educator's National Conference (MENC), and the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA). Kelsey was the recipient of the ACDA Pennsylvania Chapter's "Outstanding Young Conductor Award" in 2018, an award given to a young conductor who has been teaching for three-five years.
